Bio-based or partially bio-based films make a significant contribution to protecting our planet's finite resources. Thanks to innovative manufacturing processes, there are now plastics that are partially or entirely made from renewable raw materials.
The Wolfen film factory produces both: PLA film made from corn starch, which consists of 100% renewable raw materials, but also BIO-PET, which has a share of around 30%.
BIO-PET is a film with a 30% share of renewable raw materials. The chemical basis is identical to conventional PET. The ethanol for the ethylene glycol is obtained from renewable raw materials (sugar cane).
BIO-PET can be easily recycled and reduces dependence on crude oil price volatility to some extent.

PLA film type consists of 100% renewable plant-based raw materials.
The film is compostable under industrial conditions, meaning the material meets customers' sustainability requirements. The films are also approved for direct contact with food.
